Cox’s Bazar–Tekhnaf Marine Drive is a 80-kilometre-long road from Cox’s Bazar to Teknaf along the Bay of Bengal and it is the world’s longest marine drive. It was inaugurated on May 6, 2017 by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
It was constructed by 16th Engineer Construction Battalion of Bangladesh Army, under the supervision of Bangladesh Roads and Highways Department. The construction cost was around ৳1,050 crore.
In 1993, the erstwhile government took the project 48 km long marine drive but after building the two-kilometer road, construction work had been stopped. Later the road disappeared due to the strong stream. Then resume the construction in 1995 and the job was given to the Bangladesh Army, unfortunately, the project’s work also remained to stop for several years. In 2008, the construction’s work started again and planned to complete in 2018. Bangladesh Army conducted the construction work under the supervision of Bangladesh Roads and Highways Department.
One year earlier the project completed in 2017 and Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina inaugurated it on May 6, 2017. The marine drive is very nice looking to enchanting anyone. It is situated beside the seashore that increases its beauty widely.
